Dr. Jay Bolter, Georgia Tech

Prof. Dr. Jay Bolter has been a Professor in Media Studies at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA, since 1991. He currently holds the Wesley Chair of New Media. Publications include the standard work “Remediation: Understanding New Media”, published by MIT, Boston, USA.

Marnix van Gisbergen

Dr. Marnix van Gisbergen is Research Director at ADE and committee member of the Nima Online Marketing Group. As a Research Director at a market research company Marnix worked as a research consultant for well-known companies in the media and entertainment industry. His research interests include the effects of (digital) advertising and communication strategies on consumer behavior. Marnix has a special interest in youth marketing, branding and semiotics. In 2006 he finished his dissertation project at the Radboud University. Marnix published over 50 articles in national and international (academic and professional) magazines.

Yi-Ling Teo

Yi-Ling is lawyer qualified both in England & Wales, and Singapore. She holds a LL.M. (cum laude) from Norwestern University School of Law in Chicago, USA. A Director with a Singapore-based law firm, she practices in the areas of media & entertainment transactions, intellectual property management and strategy, technology and general commercial transactions. A published author on the subject of media law, Yi-Ling has taught media law, comparative copyright law, entertainment business transactions and media ethics in a number of diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Singapore, and also with ADE at NHTV.

Bruce Hancock

Bruce Hancock is a Lecturer in content creation at NHTV International University and a consultant in Branded Entertainment. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the Australian National University and a Master of Fine Arts from Columbia University in New York. He has written and produced globally distributed TV drama, feature films, online multi-path narratives, television commercials and is a published novelist. Most recently he has also been conceiving cross-media branded entertainment campaigns for clients such as Disney, Nokia, SonyBMG, Coca Cola and McDonalds.

Licia Calvi

Licia Calvi, PhD, is a senior lecturer at NHTV. She has taught HCI, Hypertext and Hypermedia in several European Universities, including TC Dublin, TU/Eindhoven and the University of Parma. Her research interests include usability and evaluation of e-learning systems (in particular) as well as rhetoric and argumentation in digital media. She is on the editorial board of the International Journal of E-learning, of Social and Humanistic Computing and of Technology Enhanced Learning.

Oliver Davies

Oliver Davies holds a Master in Creative Digital Media from the University of Teesside (UK) and is currently completing a PhD on the links between video game players and game playing preferences. He has a long career as a designer in the gaming industry.

Frank Peters

Frank Peters holds a master in Economics from Tilburg University and is currently working on a PhD in Strategy & Organization. He is director of NHTV Business and vice Dean of the Academy of Digital Entertainment.

Hans de Nie

Hans de Nie holds an a Master in Science in Business Economics with a major in Marketing from Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is currently completing a PhD on branding and business models at Nijenrode Business University. In a previous career he worked in marketing for the FMCG sector.

Carlos Santos

For more than 6 years Carlos Santos was involved in critical software development for government agencies like the air-force, navy and the European Space Agency, and in several projects like the Galileo-European GPS. He was responsible for lecturing Computer Graphics 2D and 3D in Portuguese Universities. His main interest is in Interface Design and Augmented Reality applications. He has a Master in Science from the New University of Lisbonne. Next to this he has published several articles.

Mata Haggis

Prof. Mata Haggis is a games & narrative designer with over a decade of experience working both as a freelance and in-studio games developer. He started as an artist experimenting with the internet as a medium as well as a platform, before quickly expanding into animation and indie games development. He then moved into AAA games development where he became a lead designer and writer on console and PC games. Dr. Snežana Stupar-Rutenfrans has been working since 2014 as a Researcher and a Lecturer (in Quantitative Methods) at the IMEM. Snežana is mainly interested in emotion research, quantitative research methods, and cross-cultural (media) psychology/communication.

Gerben Beijneveld

Gerben Beijneveld is lecturer entrepreneurship at ADE & Business Incubation Officer Starterslift at the NHTV. In this role he stimulates entrepreneurship with students, screens & coaches startups and works on improving the education on entrepreneurship within the academy. Next to this he also establishes closer relationship with partners in the industry and other knowledge institutions. Before he started his job at NHTV, Gerben ran his own businesses in different industries and had several managerial positions in the business supply, food and engineering industry.
